Raavanan was simply brilliant. I don’t understand people who didn’t like it. It’s most likely that they didn’t like it because it wasn’t a typical Tamil movie. I was blown away by both cast and crew. Cinematography, musical score, locations, colouring, editing, and screenplay were amazing. Vikram, Prithviraj, Karthik, Prabhu, Priyamani and even Aishwarya (this time) captured their characters exactly. I loved the slightly disjunctive style of editing scenes. All characters were adapted very well from the epic to the film. Raavanan definitely had many references to the Tamil cause and fight for Eelam; some were subtle and some were much more direct. The “protagonizing’” of Raavanan itself is an issue that probably received much opposition. Mani Ratnam and ARR are really putting Tamils on the map with this one. Raavanan is a remarkable work of art.

long time it will take before indians can appreciate gd cinema!! which is why we are nowhere near hollywood.. only ppl who appreciate gd cinema will know the hardwork put behind this marvelous movie!! like wat we all know, only a film which has the usual crappy mix of romance, dance, fight and masala will make it at the box-office!! but Raavanan really rocks!! one of Mani Ratnam's best movies and of cos it is Vikram's and Aishwarya's best till date.
