Director Bharathiraja has been elected as President of Tamil Nadu Film Director’s Association again. For the post of association president, Bharathiraja and S. Murali, assistant director, were pitted against each other. Bharathiraja won by a huge margin of 1000+ votes.

The Tamil Nadu Film Director’s Association election was held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. here on Sunday with 1,229 members casting their votes.

A total of 48 persons contested for 21 posts from two teams – the United Directors Team and the Pudhiya Alai(Assistant Director’s team). Brisk voting was seen from 8 a.m. at the Film Musicians’ Union at Vadapalani in which directors including K. Balachander, Bharathiraja, K.S. Ravikumar, Shankar, Dharani, Partheeban, Santhana Bharathi, S.A. Chandrasekar, Sasikumar, Cheran, Ameer, R.K. Selvamani, Charan, Mishkyn, and Venkat Prabhu voted.

Directors Cheran and Samuthirakani were already elected unopposed for the posts of vice-president and S.P. Jananathan was elected unopposed as treasurer. The results for the posts of General Secretary and executive committee members will be announced tomorrow.
