Former Minister K.P. Munuswamy, a prominent leader of the OPS-led faction of the AIADMK, has said that nothing less than a CBI inquiry into the mysterious circumstances which caused the demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa would be acceptable to his faction.
Addressing newsmen at the State Secretariat yesterday, Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami said that a judicial inquiry by a Commission of Inquiry to be headed by a retired Judge would be conducted into the demise of ‘Puratchithalaivi’. He also said that action against those found guilty would be initiated based on the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry after it submitted its report.
He also said that Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence would be turned into a Memorial for the members of the public to visit the place and pay their homage. Responding to this, K.P. Munuswamy said that all along, they had only been demanding a CBI inquiry into Jayalalithaa’s demise to unearth the mystery. “Judicial inquiry is not acceptable to us and we want only a CBI inquiry,” he asserted.
On another note, he demanded revealing the document filed with the Election Commission which reportedly had the thumb impression of the former chief-minister. While welcoming the decision to turn Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence into a Memorial, Munuswamy said that efforts should continue to keep all members of the family of jailbird Sasikala out of the party fold.
