Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa has claimed that the just-concluded 2-day Global Investors’ Meet in Chennai was a ‘huge success’ and would go a long way in harnessing the State’s industrial growth.
At the behest of Govt. of Tamil Nadu, thousands of investors from across the globe congregated at Chennai and attending the Investors’ Meet at the Chennai Trade Centre for 02 days from 09-10 September. Chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, who inaugurated the meet on Wednesday, delivered the valedictory speech yesterday evening.
“Announcement regarding conduct of the Investors’ Meet was made in last year’s Budget speech. I personally supervised all the arrangements for the meeting. I would like to congratulate all the Ministers of the State Govt. and the various federations of industry for their combined effort to make this Meeting a grand success. Tamil Nadu has received investments worth Rs.2.42 lakh crores.
“Rs.16000 crores are to be invested in micro/macro industries alone and 98 MOUs have also been signed up with various multi-national companies. Once in 3 minutes, a car is manufactured in Chennai. Thanks to today’s huge investments, Chennai would soon become a leading car manufacturing hub in the globe,” she said and concluded by saying that the next Investors’ Meet would be held in 2017.
