The DMK has moved the High Court of Madras with a request to direct the Governor to order a trust-vote on the floor of the Assembly to prove the majority of the AIADMK regime led by EPS and OPS.
DMK has requested Governor Vidyasagar Rao to order a trust-vote in the Assembly to prove the majority of the AIADMK regime in the backdrop of 19 MLAs of the ruling faction, who are supporting jailbird Dinakaran, telling Rao that they were no more in support of the EPS-OPS regime. Stalin met Rao on Sunday evening and submitted a memorandum in this regard, giving the Governor a week’s time to act on it.
In the meanwhile, the DMK has moved the High Court of Madras requesting it to direct Governor Rao to order a trust-vote in the Assembly. Political observers are not ruling out the possibility of the DMK making an effort (albeit via backdoor) to form the next Govt. in the State as it has 98 MLAs in its alliance and can count on the support of 20 of Dinakaran’s breakaway faction.
It is also pointed out that the DMK may also prefer facing fresh Assembly polls as it feels it can take on the united AIADMK which doesn’t have the inimitable ‘Puratchithalaivi’, its star campaigner for many years, in it side now!
