After a brief break, the State Legislative Assembly reconvenes today in Chennai. The Session is expected to be a stormy one as the ruling party is likely to table the report of the Rights Violation Committee against DMK chief M. Karunanidhi.
The Assembly’s last session commenced on 24th August where Department-wise grants request and debates on them were held after which the Assembly was prorogued. The Session was granted a week’s leave to enable hosting of the ‘Global Investors’ Meet’ by the State in Chennai.
When it reconvenes today, debate on grants by DAVP and Revenue Departments might be held first. Debate on grants to Departments under the chief-minister’s control would be held on 22nd of this month, it is learnt. Afterwards, the chief-minister would deliver her reply to all the queries raised by Members. The Session is slated to conclude on 29th September.
In the meantime, the rights violation issue against DMK chief M. Karunanidhi is likely to take up most of the business hours as a report by the Rights Violation Committee is to be tabled on the floor of the Assembly today.
