Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Tirunavukakrasar has said that in his opinion, aavi (spirit of a dead person) and kaavi (saffron) are ruling the roost in the State and the country.
Speaking to newsmen near Tenkasi yesterday, Tirunavukkarasar was asked to respond the sacking of jailbird Sasikala as general secretary by the AIADMK’s general council. “It’s an internal affair of the party; whosoever occupies the post of general secretary or whoever runs the part is purely an internal affair of the AIADMK and I won’t be drawn into making comments about that.
“Aavi (referring to the spirit of late Jayalalithaa) and Kaavi (saffron of the BJP) are ruling the State and the country at present. BJP manipulated the recent Presidential and Vice-Presidential polls to serve its interest in the most appropriate manner. It appears that the BJP is already gearing up to face the Lok Sabha polls which are due to be held in 2019,” he said.
He also urged the Centre to appoint a permanent Governor to run the State’s affairs. On another note, he asked chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly. “If the chief-minister believes he doesn’t enjoy the majority of the house, he should recommend dissolution of the Assembly and face fresh Assembly polls,” he concluded.
