Benicio Del Toro, known for being part of movies as Guardians of the Galaxy and Inherent Vice, is said to have been approached for a role in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Sources close to the studio revealed that the 48-year-old actor is in talks for the role of a villain in the still unnamed movie that is set to be directed by Rian Johnson. Having said that, it remains to be seen whether or not a deal materializes.

It is to be noted that Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega from this year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII) as well as the Star Wars legacy actors – Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, are expected to reprise their roles in Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on May 26, 2017.

As for Benicio Del Toro, he will next be seen in Sicario, a drug drama directed by Denis Villeneuve, wherein he shares screen space with Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Jon Bernthal.
