Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, currently in news for the upcoming Macbeth movie, have started working on Assassin’s Creed, a movie based on Ubisoft’s popular video game of the same name.
The film is being directed by Justin Kurzel. The script of the same has been written by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper, and Michael Lesslie.
According to the reports, production is now formally underway with principal photography of the film currently taking place in Malta, the Southern European island country. It is to be noted that over the last many years, Malta has served as the shooting location for a number of films, chief among them were – Gladiator (2000), The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), Troy (2004), and the more recent World War Z (2013).
In Assassin’s Creed, Malta is being shown as the 15th Century Spain, however, the story of the movie is not based on any of the Assassin’s Creed video game narratives.
Apart from Fassbender and Cotillard, the cast of the film also includes Michael Kenneth Williams, Ariane Labed, Denis Ménochet, and Carlos Bardem.
The movie will be out on December 21, 2016.
