Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali is one unhappy man today, the reason being, his upcoming labor of love, ‘Jaanisaar’ facing release problems due to heavy competition from big banners and production houses. The movie, which is a period drama set in the era of 1857, was to release on 14th August 2015 as per initial plans.
However, with Karan Johar having blocked the above mentioned date for his home production movie ‘Brothers’, Muzaffar Ali is finding it difficult to avail the screens for his directorial project. According to the ‘Umrao Jaan’ director, big names of Bollywood have an upper hand as far as the releases of any new projects are concerned. It is the studio culture and corporate houses who are ruling the film industry.
And now, finally, the filmmaker is going ahead and releasing ‘Jaanisaar’ on 7th August in order to avoid unwarranted clash with ‘Brothers’. ‘Jaanisaar’ has Pakistani actor Imran Abbas Naqvi and debutante Pernia Qureshi essaying the lead roles. The filmmaker, who will be seen directing a movie after a long time, now remains hopeful of receiving the audiences’ acceptance for his movie as he is releasing it sans the heavy duty promotional and marketing activities.
