The most alluring combination of Director – music director for the current generation Cinema music lovers the most is undoubtedly that of Selvaraghavan and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan, younger son of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and Selvaa, elder brother of actor Dhanush, have joined hands in the past to deliver many super-duper hit films.
Thulluvadho Ilamai, Kaadhal Kondein, 7-G Rainbow Colony and Puduppettai were not only huge hit films at the box-office but were also great musical hits. Selvaa appears to be getting everything right in Yuvan’s music. Selvaa’s last couple of films in Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna, which had music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, didn’t do as well as expected at the box-office.
Due to some difference of opinion Yuvan and Selvaa had parted ways three years back. Efforts for their reunion didn’t meet with success till recently. Selvaa’s upcoming film Irandaam Ulagam has music by Harris Jayaraj who got to work with Selvaa for the first time in his career. Starring Aarya and Anushka in lead roles, Irandaam Ulagam is yet to hit the screens.
It is now reported that the duo of Yuvan and Selvaa has buried their hatched and they both have decided to work together again for an upcoming film which would have Simbu playing the lead role. Selvaa had earlier hinted that he’d be making a film with Simbu after he completes his Irandaam Ulagam commitment.
Yuvan too has confirmed that he has been asked by Selvaa to work as the music director in his film with Simbu.
Selvaraghavan also has signed a Tamil-Telugu bilingual with Rana Daggubatti in the lead and the music again by his old buddy Yuvan Shankar Raja.
We can only feel happy at their re-union and wish them good luck for all their future endeavours!
