If reports are to be believed, Vidya Balan, who won the national award for ‘best actress’ for her mind-blowing performance in last year’s Bollywood super hit film The Dirty Picture, is all set for her debut in Tamil in a film to be directed by Vadivudaiyan.
Readers might recall that Vidya was once ‘rejected’ by few Kollywood directors years back before she became a success story in Bollywood due to her sheer talent and unrelenting efforts. Vidya shot briefly for Run in 2002 opposite Madhavan but was later replaced by Meera Jasmine. She was to play Trisha’s role in Manasellam the next year but missed out on that too. The ‘unlucky girl’ tag stuck with her till she delivered a super-hit with her first Bollywood venture Parineeta in 2005.
Exactly after a decade, she returns to try her luck again in Tamil venture, this with the reputation of a talented actress who is known all over the country and abroad.
Vadivudaiyan, who made the Karan-starrer Thambi Vettothi Sundaram, is planning to make his next film tentatively titled as Chokkanathan in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Karan has been roped in to play one of the 10 heroes in the film
The film is said to be an action-packed entertainer on the lines of many Hollywood action flicks. The film would also have many computer-generated graphic sequences too.
It was reported that Kareena Kapoor was first considered to play the heroine in this film, after Karan and kareena had done the Mahindra Duro Scooter ad.
For some reason, Vadivudayan later decided to sign up Vidya Balan. If the news gets confirmed, it would be the long-awaited debut in Tamil for Vidya Balan, who is among the very few heroines in Bollywood who sizzle equally in glamourous characters as well as in performance-oriented roles.
