Kollywood is abuzz with rumours that A.R. Murugadoss, who would soon be starring work on his second project with Vijay after last year’s successful Thuppakki, has been paid more than what is paid to Vijay as his fee to star in the film.
Murugadoss’ Thuppakki starring Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyan and Vidyut Jamwal in lead roles released late last year and became an blockbuster. The sleek screen-play meant that the film was lapped up by all sections of the audiences. Murugadoss and Vijay are now coming together again to make a sequel to Thuppakki which had terror attacks on Mumbai as the backdrop of its script.
The diminutive Murugadoss was reportedly paid Rs.8 crores to direct Thuppakki which he is now remaking in Hindi as Pistol with Akshay Kumar essaying the lead role in it. After he wraps up Pistol, Murugadoss would be launching the sequel to Thuppakki, which has been tentatively titled as Thuppakki II, once Vijay is free after completing his present assignment Jilla.
It is said that to direct Thuppakki II, Murugadoss has demanded and has been assured of a huge payment of Rs.20 crores. The director has also been paid a huge advance amount by the director. Murugadoss’ fee is at least Rs.2 crores more than what Vijay would be getting to star in the film, it is further reported.
The shoot of Thuppakki II is likely to commence in the second half of January next year.
