From the way media has presented a picture of Gautham Menon, he comes across as a creative genius passionate about film making. Almost all of his films have tunred to be hits like Minnale, Kaaka Kaaka ,Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu and Vinnai Thaandi Varuvayaa.
However a filmmaker’s success cannot be justified with the kind of films he makes, the biggest trait is
‘HOW HE MAKES IT? DOES HE MAKE HIS PRODUCERS SMILE OR MAKE THEM FEARSOME WITH A DOUBTING NATURE Whether HE WOULD COMPLETE THEIR FILMS OR NOT?
This is really shocking to know that Gowtham Menon doesn’t finish any project at the right time ever. His closer circuit reveals the fact that he acquires certain amount of project cost as advance and spends it for his luxuries life, inclusive of having changed 4 expensive cars in the past couple of years.
Let’s start off with his 6th film ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam’ featuring Trisha and other newcomers in lead role. While the film’s shooting which started in July 2007 was half completed , he suddenly switched into Vaaranam Aayiram which he had kick started in Nov 2006 and then moved on to ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’. ensuring Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam stays on the shelfs for nearly three years now, might be five years now if you consider the initial stars Surya, Asin and Daniel Balaji who were screened for Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam in 2005.
Through Vaaranam aayiram gautham paved way for Sameera Reddy to enter Tamil cinema from bollywood, at the same time we missed Deepika Padukone making her debut into cinemas through kollywood as she walked out the Vaaranam Aayiram crew seeing no progress in the shoot and who went on to be signed for Om Shanti om.
Coming to ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya’ what was the directors play here.
When almost 90% of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’ was completed in August 2009, it was then the telugu producers of Ye Maaya Chesave approached Gowtham and offered a huge lump amount to remake the same film in Tollywood. Alas! He had put the entire shooting of Tamil version on hold and started filming the Telugu version. Undoubtedly his act made Simbu really upset. Finally, both the films were released during last week of February which was supposed to be released on November as a Diwali release.
Sooner, he wanted to remake this film in Hindi and started his way out for the hunt of producers. Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar’s 50th film issue popped like a sensational one with political back ground heavy weight Dayanidhi alagiri as the producer, luckily for him as Ajith was out of town and nothing has been confirmed till the date.
It’s worth mentioning here that Ajith Kumar’s 49th film produced by Sivaji Productions was supposed to be directed by him and he never delivered the script.
One sec! What happened to his other untitled thriller film featuring his close associate Veera and Sameera Reddy in lead roles?
Finally, we have the shocking truth that has been revealed by the closer circuit of Gowtham Menon himself.
Guess what? A film maker usually completes writing the scripts before kick-starting the shooting. But our excellent film maker Gautham first finishes the first half and moves out to USA for writing the script for second half. Recently when a junior artist asked the assistant of Gowtham ‘Sir what would be next shot’, for which he came up with a appalling reply – ‘Your portions for first half is completed. Even the lead hero himself is wondering what would be his next shot during second half…’
In spite of all these confusions, the director has been successful in keeping his customers happy and branding his products very well.
