‘Kaadhal’ Sandhya has denied her reported ‘love affair’ with young hero Shantanu, son of director-actor K. Bhagyaraj. The diminutive Sandhya debuted with the super-duper hit Kaadhal a few years back opposite Bharath. Directed by Balaji Sakthivel, the film was appreciated by the critics and movie-goers for the practical manner it was made with no ‘heroism’ or any artificially ‘inserted’ sequences.
After starring in a few hit films like Dishyum opposite Jiiva and Vallavan opposite Simbu, Sandhya’s market nose-dived in Tamil. Even the advantage that Sandhya could dub in her own voice for her roles in films couldn’t ensure a long career for her.
Sandhya has found solace in the neighbouring Malayalam film industry. Some time back, the Kollywood was abuzz with full of rumours that she would be getting married soon with Shanthanu. Dismissing that, Sandhya says “I don’t know where it emanates from. I debuted in movies when I was still a teenager and didn’t know the nuances of how to conduct myself in the industry. My care-free attitude could have given rise to the many rumours which started floating about me.
“I used to laugh aloud when I read those rumours about me. I’m just a close friend of Shantanu. There is nothing more and nothing less. It’s not true that we are planning to get married soon. At present, I’m busy with my Malayalam projects; though I’m getting many offers in Tamil, nothing appears exciting enough. As and when I get an irresistible offer, I’d surely take it up and return to Tamil films,” assures Sandhya.
