Richa Gangopadhyay gave a very good account of her acting credentials as Dhanush’s wife in the just-released film Mayakkam Enna directed by mercurial director Selvaraghavan. An established actress in Telugu, the Bengali girl committed herself to both Mayakkam Enna as well as Simbu’s Osthi early this year. As such, it was being debated as to which among these two films would mark her debut as heroine in Tamil films.
Thanks to an ‘understanding’ between Simbu and Dhanush, Mayakkam Enna hit the screens first making it Richa’s first Tamil film. Osthi, as arranged earlier, released yesterday. In keeping with the true ‘Tamil’ tradition of patronizing non-Tamil actresses in a big way and going ga-ga over their beauty, Richa happens to be the latest heroine from across the Vindhyas to be making waves in Tamil Nadu.
Now that Mayakkam Enna has been declared a hit and with Osthi releasing soon after, Richa’s star-power in Kollywood is all set to go up by several notches. Two films releasing in a fortnight’s time opposite two leading heroes in Kollywood doesn’t occur to most of the heroines.
Knowing very well that she should be spotted quite often at public events, Richa makes it a point to attend the regular evening parties hosted in Kollywood from time to time by leading heroes, heroines and directors. She mingles freely with almost everybody, knowing very well that the slot of the ‘No.1 heroine’ in Tamil is there fore the takes.
Way to go, Richa!
