Rana has to wait, Rajini to star in his daughter’s directorial venture Kochadaiyan

Rajini in Kochadaiyan

Finally, it is conceded by superstar Rajinikanth that the shooting of his much-awaited and much-delayed Rana may not start in the near future.

Earlier today superstar Rajinikanth announced that he would do a movie, directed by youngest daughter Soundarya Ashwin,  before the much-hyped Rana. The film that would be made in 3-D format, has been named Kochadaiyan.

K.S. Ravikumar, who has directed Rajini in super-hit film such as Muthu and Padaiyappa, would be penning story, screenplay and dialogues of the film which would be directed by Soundarya under the supervision of Ravikumar.

The shooting of the entire film would be wrapped up in six months’ time as the crew plans to release the film by August next year so that Rajini would start shooting for his Rana. Eros Entertainment and Media GlobalOne would be jointly producing the film. The heroine to star opposite Rajini in Kochadaiyan and the other actors and actresses would be decided soon, it is informed.

The state-of-the-art technology in animation, known as ‘Performance Capture Technology’, would be used while shooting the film wherein the artistes’ body movements would be recorded and fed into the animated characters. The technique was used by James Cameron in his Avatar. Incidentally, this is also the first time that such technique would be used in making an Indian film.

For the record, Kochadaiyan is the name of the Pandiya King who ruled Tamil Nadu in 8th century A.D.
