Though it’s not confirmed as yet, sources at the Unit of the film Singam-2 which was launched recently on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi say that Hansika is not so ‘comfortable’ by getting branded as the ‘second heroine’ in the film especially at a time when she has been making all-out efforts to establish herself at the top in Kollywood.
After debuting as heroine in Tamil films last year with Maappillai, Hansika then starred in films like Engeyum Kaadhal and Velayudham and starred in the successful Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK) as Udhayanidhi’s heroine early this year. She has a handful of projects in Tamil opposite almost all the leading heroes and is said to be finding it very difficult to manager her call-sheet dates.
She is Aarya’s heroine in Settai and is paired up opposite Simbu in Vettai Mannan and Vaalu besides playing Suriya’s heroine in Singam-2. After committing herself to playing second fiddle to Anushka in this film, Hansika is now said to be having ‘second thoughts’ about going ahead with the film’s shoot. It might be noted that Hansika gave her nod to star in the film only after listening to the entire script.
Hansika is said to be ‘apprehensive’ with the thought that playing ‘second heroine’ would not only ‘lower’ her image but would also have a huge ‘negative impact’ on the box-office showing of the above-said films in which he plays the solo heroine. As if he’s succeeded in reading her mind and understanding her predicament, director Hari has said that the script is the ‘hero’ of the film and that Anushka and Hansika have equal roles to star in it.
