Menon will instead helm the Bollywood remake of his Tamil romance drama ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya’ with Prateik Babbar in the lead. The female lead is yet to be decided, however Trisha the heroine of original film is the strong contender.
“Though producer Vipul Shah has made announcements, Gautham Menon, who was to direct the film, has suddenly opted out of the project. The director will soon make the Hindi version of his Tamil hit Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya that had Silambarasan-Trisha in the lead,” a close source to Menon said.
‘Kaakha Kaakha’ remake ran into trouble when John had to cancel his dates for the film as he could not fulfill the demands of the script which required him to gain weight. The weight gain would have clashed with his other film Dostana 2 in which he is required to have a chiseled beach body.
It is worth mentioning here that John Abraham had refused to work with Asin and had told producer Vipul Shah to replace Asin in his Kaakha Kaakha remake in Hindi.
Prateik impressed Menon with his role in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na to earn the lead role in the remake.
