The name Ravi K. Chandran is quite a popular one in the world of cinematography in films. Like his contemporary Santosh Sivan who has garnered national and international fame, the soft-spoken Chandran is also one of the most respected technicians in his profession. He is also one of the most sought-after cinematographers in the country and his pay-packet per film is said to be among the top-five in the country.
Chandran has worked in films made by almost all leading directors in Kollywood including the likes of Shankar and Maniratnam. His Bollywood record is also a proud one to behold as he had worked with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Chandran was also the cinematographer of the Suriya-Shruti Haasan starrer 7aam Arivu which hit the screens on Deepavali in the last week of October.
Despite his busy schedule of juggling his Hindi and Tamil films, Chadran has managed to find time to write a script. Following on the footsteps of Balumahendraa, Ashok Kumar, Jiiva, Thangar Bachchan and K.V. Anand, Chandran is also said to be seriously weighing the options of turning a director soon.
The script Chandran has made is said to be a tailor-made one for actor Dhanush. He later met Dhanush, narrated to him the full script and even got his consent to play the lead role in the film. Harris Jayaraj would be scoring the music of this as-yet-untitled project. The heroine and other lead actors and actresses would be decided later. It is also rumoured strongly that Chakravarthy of NIC Arts might produce this film.
