Actress Asin has been concentrating mainly in Hindi films for the past few years. She starred in Kaavalan as Vijay’s heroine early this year, which is her only non-Hindi film during this time. Her quest to make it to the list of frontline actresses in Hindi still continues as she awaits the release of her films such as Bol Bachchan and Housefull-2.
Asin admits that she owes it to the Southern films which made her popular enough to try her hand in Hindi movies. “South fans have always patronized me in a very big way. In fact, they have always treated me as the ‘daughter of the soil’. I got to work with some of the leading heroes in Tamil which endeared me to millions of fans and movie-goers.
“I always treasure the Filmfare and Nandi awards I have won for my Telugu films. At present, I’m busty with a couple of films in Bol Bachchan and Housefull-2. Till March next year, I would be busy with my pending projects in Hindi. I’m happy that my Kaavalan opposite Vijay turned out to be successfully early this year. My character in the film was an unique one; if I get such role(s), I’d no doubt take up offers in Southern films as well.
“Before taking up the offer to act in any language film, I consider five factors: the script of the film, director, producer, my co-actors and my character in the film. The fee I get for my films is secondary to me but the script ought to satisfy me fully. I’m aware of the many rumours floating in the press linking me with Salman Khan and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Actually, I’m very close the family members of both Salman and Nitin,” concludes Asin.
