12th October, the coming Friday, would witness the release of actor Suriya’s mega-film Maatraan directed by K.V. Anand. The film, which has been in the making for close to two years, is finally hitting the screens in the ensuing week. If things go as proposed the film would be released simultaneously in Telugu in the dubbed version with the title Brother.
Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna too has his Damarukam opposite Anushka Shetty releasing on the same day. Damarukam also has Ganesh Venkatraman, Prakashraj and the sizzling Charmy Kaur in a special appearance.
It is predicted that Suriya’s Brother and Nagrjuna’s Damarukam might be vying with each other to bag the honours at the box-office.
Considering the fact that for the past 4-5 years, all of Suriya’s films have done very well in Andhra Pradesh, Brother won’t be a pushover. The fact that Karthi, who is also popular in Andhra and has dubbed for his elder brother Suriya in Brother, has only added to one of the many pluses the film has. Suriya plays the role(s) of conjoined brother(s), a role which has never been attempted by any hero in the country.
Kajal Aggarwal is paired opposite Suriya in Brother which has been produced at a very high cost with some reports suggesting that this film might well turn out to be the most expensive film in Suriya’s career spanning more than a decade. Nagarjuna’s Damarukam has been produced at a budget of Rs.40 crores and has music by Devi Sri Prasad. Harris Jayaraj has scored the music of Suriya’s Brother.
Let’s wait to see who among Nagarjuna and Suriya succeeds in taking the box-office honours!
