Actor Vimal had gained a reputation not dissimilar to the one actor Sathyaraj did manage to gain when he started off as a hero. Sathyaraj, who starred as villain in many films, started off by doing a variety of roles as hero before settling down as a commercial hero. Vimal, who too has loads of sarcasm as the veteran actor, appears to be a tailor-made choice for films with sarcasm and set in a rural backdrop.
He now plays the hero for the first time in a film set in an urban backdrop. The film is titled ‘Istham’ and pairs him opposite debutant Nisha Agarwal. As readers might have guessed correctly, Nisha is the younger sibling of Kajal Agarwal and would be debuting in Kollywood as heroine with ‘Ishtam’. For the first time, comedian Santhanam would be starring along side Vimal in ‘Ishtam’.
Anoop, who starred in the Aarya-Shriya Saran starrer ‘Chikku Bhukku’, would play the second hero in ‘Ishtam’ and would be paired opposite Parvathy, a Chennai-based model. The film, a remake of the Telugu hit ‘Yemayindhi Ivela’ directed by Sampath Nandi, is produced by Ramesh of Balaji Real Media. Kalyan, who worked as an assistant director on Kamal’s ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’, turns director with ‘Ishtam’, which has music by Thaman.
Let’s see how Vimal sustains himself in an urban (alien?) set-up!
