Count on S.A. Chandrasekaran, producer-director and president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TPFC), to say something novel and interesting each time he’s given a mike to talk. SAC was in his elements at the audio-launch of his son Vijay’s upcoming film Thuppakki which was held at a five-star hotel in the city. SAC’s speech was surely the highlight of the evening.
SAC spoke at length about how the film was conceived and got on the floor after fulfilling the many ‘conditions’ put forth by Vijay. “Though Vijay is my son, he gives me call-sheet to star in home-production only once in 2-3 years. When we started Thuppakki, he told us to locate a reputed director and we approached Murugadoss; the fee demanded by him was staggering. As he is one of the top directors, it was obvious that he’d demand so. We agreed to his demand and signed him up.”
“Vijay then spoke to Murugadass, confirmed that he had been paid the advance amount, and only then received his fee to star in the film. He also demanded a noted cameraman and we opted for Santosh Sivan, the award-winning cinematographer. Vijay’s next demand was a ‘leading’ heroine. We approached Kajal Aggarwal after many hurdles and signed her up. Getting to talk to her manager was far more difficult than talking to Kajal herself.
“Thanu then took over the production of the film and I’m only happy about this Thaanu is a meticulous planner. I wish the film’s crew all the success,” he concluded.
