Vidya Balan still smarts Kollywood’s rejection

Vidya Balan wins best actress award

Even as accolades and congratulatory messages are pouring in from all quartes for the national award she won for her performance in the film The Dirty Picture, the national award-winning actress Vidya Balan is still said to be nursing an old wound (not physical, though) which had to face almost a decade back in Kollywood.

It now turns out that it was Vidya Balan who was signed up to play the lead role opposite Srikanth in the hit film Manasellam. In fact, the Palakkad-born Vidya was also signed up to star opposite Madhavan in Run. As it turned out, Vidya was given a rather unceremonious exit from both these films as Trisha and Meera Jasmine replaced her respectively in Manasellam and Run.

This probably left her a little heart-broken as she was told that she won’t be starring in the film anymore after she started shotting for the Srikanth-starrer. Undeterred by the cold-shoulder she got from the Tamil film-makers, Vidya moved to Mumbai and ensured that her name remains etched in the annals of the history of Indian films forever by winning the coveted national award for ‘best actress’, considered a pinnacle in each actress’ history.

She recalled that she hasn’t forgotten the snub she got in Kollywood. However, post the national award, many Kollywood directors are queuing up to sign her up in their films. It appears that Vidya is finally having the last laugh!
