Vidya’s amazing portrayal of Kollywood’s late ‘item girl’ Silk Smitha in the award-winning film The Dirty Picture last year has put her firmly among the top actresses in Bollywood.
The Ottapalam-born actress won the coveted national award for ‘best actress’ for her role in the film. It was her first national award and the film also bagged her Filmfare award for ‘best actress’. She followed it up with another successful lventure in Kahaani this year. The back-to-back successes have increased Vidya’s staks in Bollywood like it was never before.
Vidya now joins her contemporaries such as Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor by getting an amazing sum to endorse a saree brand produced by a leadin Mumbai firm. Vidya has reportedly been paid a whopping Rs.5 crore. She would soon be shooting for the commercial to endorse the saree brand and is also expected to turn out at public events clad in sarees produced by them in the next one year or so.
