Tamil Film Producers’ Council issued a new set of regulations to control and optimize cost spent on film promotions and advertisements few days back. However, Kalpathi S Aghoram, who owns the banner AGS Entertainment, has flouted the rules to ensure wide release for Thani Oruvan, which is successfully running in screens.
“Aghoram sir is not the one who defies authority. He has always accepted the rules set by TFPC and has co-ordinated our decisions well in the past. During the release of Vai Raja Vai, in order to respect the rules of TFPC, he denied their crew to participate in a show organized by Vijay TV, who had acquired the satellite rights for Rs. 3 crores. Later, due to the non-cooperation of artists, Vijay TV pulled back the deal and KSA lost Rs. 3 crores,” says a producer close to Kalpathi.
Now, TFPC has stated that it will discuss with Kalpathi in the next general body meeting and question him over the violation of rules.
