Yesterday was a Wednesday and was also an auspicious day as it also happened to be the ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ day. Kollywood, which never wastes any opportunity in displaying its religious traditions, witnessed the muhurat (launch) of a few films. Prominent among them was Singam-2, the sequel to the highly successful Singam which starred Suriya and Anushka more than two years ago.
Directed by Hari, Singam was also later remade in Hindi in the same name starring Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal. Prakashraj, incidentally, played the same villain’s role in both the versions. At the beginning of 2012, Hari had hinted that the sequel would be launched this year and it went to the floors, as promised, yesterday.
Along with Suriya and Anushka, hottie Hansika joins the cast in the sequel titled as Singam-2. Hari would be directing the film which is produced by S. Lakshmanan. Many newcomers, who have been selected after a massive talent hunt, would also be starring in the film. Readers might recall that DSP’s music had a great effect in the success of the first part.
Among those who took part in the muhurat were Suriya, Anushka, Hansika, Hari, Suriya’s father Sivakumar, producer-director Lingusamy and Suriya’s younger brother Karthi.
