S.R. Prabhakaran is the debutant director of actor-director-producer Sasikumar’s latest film Sundarapandian which hit the screens a couple of weeks back. Starring debutant heroine Lakshmi Menon opposite Sasikumar, Prabhakaran’s Sundarapandian has just been declared a hit film. Indications are that the film might go on to become one of the rare super-hit movies of this year.
A former aide of Sasikumar, the spirited Prabhakaran is thankful to his mentor and friend Sasikumar for helping him make his debut in Kollywood as a diretor. Produced by Sasikumar, the film’s success has helped Prabhakaran in less than two weeks of its theatrical release. He would now be making his second film as a director for Red Giant Movies owned by Udhayanidhi.
Getting to direct a film for a big banner quite early in one’s career is indeed a big achievement. It turns out that Udhayanidhi, who recently watched Sundarapandian, decided that he’d be making a film with Prabhakaran calling the shots. Reports say that Udhayanidhi appeared extremely pleased with the handling of the script and the sleek narration and has repeated the crew of Sundarapandian in his next film.
After recording in his Twitter page that “Sundarapandian is an extremely lovable film and I enjoyed it to the fullest; the film qualifies for family-viewing”, Udhayanidhi sent for Prabhakaran to come and meet him at his Office and offered the latter the chance to direct a film under his banner. Whether Udhaya himself would be playing the hero’s role or some other hero might be roped in would be known in a day or two, informs Prabhakaran.
