“I never attempted to commit suicide in the first place. All I did was to visit the hospital to get treated for a recurring head-ache. I don’t know why and how it was blown out of proportions,” was all Sujibala, who was admitted to a private hospital in Nagercoil in Southern Tamil Nadu a few days back reportedly in a ‘critical condition’, has to say when she was asked as to why she made such an attempt in the first place.
Suji, who had starred in films such as Chandramukhi and Ayyavazhi, was all set to get married to director Ravikumar in whose film Unmai she is playing the lead role of a heroine. The couple got ‘engaged’ reportedly on 5th July but it is said that Ravikumar ‘eloped’ prior to the day when he was to tie the nuptial knot. It was reported that Suji tried to commit suicide as she was upset by Ravikumar’s eloping.
Speaking to newsmen, Suji said “I never attempted suicide. I asked for pills from my mother for head-ache and fever who replied to me to take it from the cupboard. Apparently, I picked up the wrong pills and swallowed them and fainted. My family was obviously shocked and got me admitted to a nearby hospital. I stayed at the hospital hardly for 3-4 hours before returning home.
“I have plenty of friends in Kollywood. I’m in love with Ravikumar and would get married to him on the scheduled day in October. As and when the date is finalized, I’d make the whole world know about it. There is no secrecy about it. I play an important role in Sundar C’s MGR and would get married after I finish it. I’m not likely to continue to act after my marriage,” concludes Suji.
