Actress Sonia Aggarwal is attempting the unthinkable. The actor returned to the world of films after a break of more than five years during when she fell in love with ace director Selvaraghavan, spent time with him and decided that she won’t be able to continue in the relationship and finally came out of it through a divorce decree.
Soon after her divorce, industry watchers predicted that Sonia would return back to her native Punjab as she didn’t have much of a choice. To the surprise of many, Sonia decided to try her luck in films for the second time. It was Selvaraghavan who introduced Sonia in films as the heroine opposite Ravikrishna in the film 7-G Raibbow Colony in the year 2004. The film turned out to be a huge hit following which Sonia paired up opposite many leading heroes including Vijay and Aarya.
For her comeback, though, she first tested waters by playing a small but significant role in the Simbu-Anushka Shetty starrer Vaanam which released early last year and did very well at the box-office. Buoyed by the film’s success, she took up Oru Nadigaiyin Vakkumoolam (ONV) directed by debutant director Raj Krishna. As the film’s title suggests, the film is about the struggle of a top actress and her way to stardom which is littered with many untold miseries.
Sonia’s determination that she won’t be doing sister and mother roles and would only be playing lead roles has landed up another offer at her doorstep. She has now been signed up to play the lead role in Achcham Enna which would again be directed by Raj Krishna. The film is billed as a ‘romantic thriller’ and talks are on with ‘Jithan’ Ramesh to play the male lead opposite Sonia.
A formal announcement in this regard would be made soon, it is learnt. Meanwhile, film distributors have expressed their satisfaction that ONV has come out ‘well’ and have come forward to release the film in many number of theatres!
