One can always safely count on Simbu to conceive off and perform the unthinkable. It was Simbu who started the trend of releasing the ‘one-song’ audio in films some time back and is continuing the trend with his upcoming film titled Poda Podi (PP) which has been in the making for more than two years.
The function to mark the release of a single-song from Love Pannalaama Venama from PP was held yesterday in the city. Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, the film has debutant Varalakshmi, daughter of Sarath Kumar (president of Nadigar Sangam), playing Simbu’s love interest. ‘VTV’ Ganesh, Shobana and Mastar Samarath have played significant roles in the film which has been shot widely in London, Disneyland in Hong Kong and Macau.
Duncan Delford, who has worked as cinematographer in some prominent Hollywood films, is the cinematographer of PP while Tharan Kumar has scored the film’s music. Antony is the editor while veteran Vaali, Naa Muthukumar and Simbu have penned the film’s lyrics.
The film, which has been produced at a very high cost, has been directed by a debutant director in the form of Vignesh Shivan. With Simbu joining hands with a greenhorn director, one might get to see Simbu even ‘shadow-directing’ the film; whether this is the case or not would only be known as and when the film hits the screens!
