Venkat Prabhu would be directing Suriya in a film which would be launched next year. Venkat Prabhu is one of the few directors in the industry who possess a ‘clean record’ of hundred percent hits. All of Venkat Prabhu’s directorial ventures which have released as on date have proved to be box-office hits including the Ajith-starrer Mankatha which released in 2011.
The proposed film would be made in typical Venkat Prabhu style and would have equal doses of action, romance and comedy, it is learnt. In fact, Venkat wanted to make a film with Suriya in the lead soon after wrapping up Mankatha in 2011 but as Suriya was busy with the making of his Singam II, Venkat Prabhu launched Biriyani which starred Suriya’s brother Karthi and Hansika in the lead.
Biriyani hasn’t yet released so far for a variety of reasons and is finally hitting the screens on the 20th of this month. After the success of Singam II, Suriya had taken a brief break and has just started work on Lingusamy’s untitled venture in which Samantha has been paired opposite for him the first time. As reported earlier, some time back, Suriya made public his decision to walk out of Gautham Menon’s film.
Suriya gave to Venkat Prabhu the dates he had reserved for Menon’s film after he was mightily impressed by the one-line script he heard from Venkat Prabhu. March or April next year looks to be the possible period when the film would be launched after Suriya completes the shoot of Lingusamy’s film. Suriya would be producing the film under his own banner “2D productions” which he launched recently.
