It’s a known fact that Samuthirakkani and Sasikumar are close buddies in Kollywood, on and off-screen. Both are producers, directors and actors and have delivered some thought-provoking entertainers together in the form of Subramaniapuram, Nadodigal, Eesan and Poraali. In the cut-throat world of Kollywood, maintaining true friendship is considered as a rarity.
Directed by debutant Prabhakaran, Sasikumar’s Sundara Pandian (SP) is releasing today. Though he didn’t star in the film or work in any discipline in it, Samu was present at the audio launch of SP held some time back and whole-heartedly wished that the film would court success at the box-office.
Meanwhile, the Samuthirakkani-starrer Sattai is also completed and is ready for its theatrical release. As the producer had got the ‘requisite’ number of theatres, he was gearing up to release Sattai on 14th September (today), However, Samu stepped in and asked his producer to hold back the release of the film for five days as his friend Sasikumar’s Sundara Pandian is slated to release on 14th September.
Apparently, Samu didn’t want his film to eat into the viewership of Sasikumar’s film. As such, while SP releases today, Samu’s Sattai would only be releasing on 19th (next Wednesday). However, distributors still predict a tough on-screen contest between the two friends!
