It’s official now. Sunil Lulla, managing director of Eros International Media Ltd. which produces superstar Rajini’s upcoming film Rana, issued a press statement to put an end to all confusion. He has said that the shooting schedule of the film might not commence in the first week of October as announced a few months back.
Lulla’s confirmation comes close on the heels of a strong rumour which is floating in Kollywood about the possible ‘abandonment’ of the film in view of Rajini’s health. While it is acknowledged by Rajini’s relatives, friends and well-wishers that the superstar had made rapid strides in recovering from his illness to reclaim his usual health, they remain tight-lipped about when would Rajini be making a public appearance for his fans.
The script of Rana has been set in periodical backdrop with Rajini playing triple roles. Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone has already been signed up one of the heroines while it is said that Tollywood’s Ileana might be the second heroine in the film. Rajini fell ill on the very day the film’s shooting was launched in Chennai i.e. on 29th April. The film, a grand production, was to be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Says director K.S. Raikumar: “Though Rajini is back to his usual health, we have decided to delay the start of the shooting schedule as we don’t want to rush his process of rehabilitation. This film has him playing triple roles and might contain some risky, high-octane stunt sequences as well!”
“It’s for this very reason that the shooting dates would be decided in December, says Lulla and adds, “It’s a highly prestigious project for us and we don’t mind waiting for a few more months as it’s a film which marks the grand comeback of the superstar after his illness!”
