Real life scandals and incidents have always inspired filmmakers specially those that make it to the headlines as they likely to provoke interest.
Swami Nithyananda’s sex scandal tapes were also in great demand, which has probably inspired the debutant Kannada director Gajendra Achar to make a movie on him.
Well known South Indian actor Ramesh Aravind, has now been roped in to play the role of the Swamiji in the movie, which depicts the story of a Swamiji exploiting women.
Ramesh Aravind has acted in several tamil films including ‘Keladi Kanmani’, ‘Duet’,’Jodi’,’Panchathanthiram’ and ‘Sathi Leelavathi’.
Director-music composer Sadhu Kokila has already announced making a film on ‘Swami Nithyananda’. So, Gajendra Achar’s film will be the second in the Kannada industry to focus on the Swamiji.
According to Ramesh, the script works are currently going on for the film Samayananda. Talking about the upcoming film, he dismisses the speculation that it revolves around Swami Nithyananda’s scandalous sex tape with actress Ranjitha.
He says, “It’s not about Nityananda or any particular swamiji. It’ll be a humorous take on godmen in general” .
However, Ramesh admits that his character in Samayananda is a swamiji with a roving eye, who is attracted to women. He says that the movie will not be a masala entertainer. Rather it will be portrayed in a humorous way and be a pure entertainer. It will send out a message too. It emphasises that women should not be demeaned or exploited in the name of religion.
Ramesh Aravind, is usually seen in the role of a family entertainer. But he has taken up a negative role in this film. The shooting of the film will start in July as they are yet to sign the rest of the cast. The dialogue and songs for the film have been penned by Hrudaya Shiva.
