A Mumbai-based film financier was arrested by the Chennai police for allegedly ‘threatening’ to take away the life of the manager of superstar Rajinikanth’s Raghavendra Educational Trust (RET).
The office of RET is situated at Teynampet, Chennai. The manager of the Trust recently lodged complaint with the Teynampet Police Station alleging that Sushil Gupta, a popular film financer hailing from Mumbai, had threatened him with ‘dire consequences’ in a case relating to the loan of Rs.2.5 crore that the Trust had reportedly taken.
Based on the complaint, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajaran took up the case. Ravi, the Police inspector at the Station, registered the case and conducted investigations into the complaint and found Gupta guilty of threatening the manager of the Trust.
Gupta was arrested by the police and was remanded to judicial custody. Later, he was shifted to the Puzhal Central Prison.
