Among his many admirable qualities is the trait not to promote any individual as an actor or actress. Superstar Rajinikanth has never heaped unwarranted praise on his daughters or his son-in-law or anyone close to him who are part of the entertainment industry. Whenever he speaks about them, it would invariably centre around some achievement by them.
Rajini has always believed that an individual, irrespective of whether he/she is a relative a ‘big’ star or not, has to possess talent and the knack of making use of the opportunities he/she gets. Probably for the first time, Rajini has ‘compromised’ on his set goals of appreciating and promoting an actor when he did so recently by praising the performance of debutant actor Vikram Prabhu in his upcoming film Gumki.
Before you might wonder as to what was the need for Rajini to do so, it’s the loyalty and respect he reserves for Kumar’s family: Kumar is the son of actor Prabhu and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. Readers are aware of the respect Rajini has for Sivaji, who has starred in a few films with him. Rajini also treats Prbahu as his younger brother and thought it fit to promote his brother’s son.
Rajini was shown a few sequences of the film Gumki which has been directed by Prabhu Solomon. The superstar, who returned from Kerala recently after wrapping up the shooting schedule of Kochadaiyan, reportedly spent time to say a few appreciative words about Vikram Prabhu’s performance in the film which is sure to be used as a major ‘marketing’ tool in promoting the film!
