Pandiraj to direct Vimal in his home production

The 2009 hit film ‘Pasanga’ witnessed the birth of two stars: one was that of hero Vimal, who further established his market through the successful ‘Kalavaani’ (2010) and ‘Thoonganagaram’ (2011). The other was the diminutive director Pandiraj, who won many accolades and awards for his debut film which dealt in detail with the psyche of school-going children.

Pandiraj directed last year’s ‘Vamsam’, his second film, that had chief minister Kalaignar’s grandson Arulnidhi debuting as hero opposite the stunning Sunaina, who appeared in a deglamourized role in the film. The film was a moderate success.

Pandiraj’s third directorial venture, which would also be the first film to be produced under his own banner, is likely to star Vimal again as the hero. In fact, it is said that it was Vimal who encouraged Pandiraj to produce the film as well. Vimal, who has had a hat-trick of hits, is now looking forward to the release of his upcoming film ‘Eththan’.

Vimal’s heroines had been Vega, Oviyaa and Anjali in his successful films. Sanusha (of ‘Renigunda’ fame) would be his heroine in ‘Eththan’. Vimal is now only too happy to be pairing opposite Amala Paul in Pandiraj’s next venture, which is likely to go to the floors from the second half of May.
