Pandiraj speaks on his Marina Interview

Readers might be aware that the diminutive Pandiraj, the national award-winning director who debuted in Kollywood with the memorable film Pasanga, recently floated his own production house. After making his debut film, Pandiraj directed the Arulnidhi-starrer Vamsam and the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Marina which were average hits at the box-office.

Deviating from his usual style of keeping the titles of his films brief, Pandiraj has named his upcoming film as Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (KBKR). Vimal and Sivakarthikeyan come together for the first time on-screen for KBKR with Vimal playing ‘Billa’ and Siva essaying the character of ‘Ranga’. Readers might recall that both Billa and Ranga were superstar Rajinikanth’s hit films in the early eighties.

Asked as to why and how he decided to make use of the title of Rajini’s super-hit films, Pandiraj says “Nowadays, humour-filled films click at the box-office instead of serious or emotion-filled ones. KBKR is a fun-film and I thought this title would just be appropriate in the backdrop of the film’s script. I have always loved all films of Rajini Sir as his active screen presence is unmatched by anyone till today.

“Therefore, I purposely chose the two titles of Rajini Sir’s films and formed the title of KBKR. Bindhu Madhavi and Regina are paired opposite Vimal and Sivakarthikeyan respectively. The film’s shoot is progressing in a brisk manner and we hope to release the film in theatres as soon as possible,” concludes Pandiraj.
