In order to coordinate the wishes and aspirations of millions of fans of composer Ilaiyaraaja the world over, an official ‘Ilaiyaraaja Fans’ Club’ is to be inaugurated soon. Karthik Raja, a noted music director in his own right and eldest son of the Maestro, would function as the president of the Fans’ Club while producer P. Veluchamy and director Rathnakumar would be the managing trustees.
An official announcement in this regard would be made at the grand musical mega-event titled ‘Ilaiyaraajavin Sangeetha Thirunaal’, which is scheduled to be held in Madurai on the 05th of April. On the same day, a weekly Tamil magazine titled Isaignani would also be launched. The magazine would continue to give important and mostly untold details of the success story of the musical genius.
Karthik Raja apparently has the approval of the Maestro in launching the ‘Ilaiyaraaja Fans’ Club’ which seeks to bring all the fans of the Maestro under a single umbrella. Once launched, all the activities and functions of Ilaiyaraaja’s fans would be carried out under this banner. Karthik decided to unite all Maestro’s fans, who are indulging in many social services, in order to divert their energies in many positive ways.
It would be an organization which would cut across caste, creed, religious and linguistic barriers. More than one crore fans are expected to enroll themselves as its members. The announcement to create the Fans’ Club is to be made at the Tamukkam grounds in Madurai where the Maestro would hold a grand music concert for his fans in Tamil Nadu. Leading Kollywood celebrities, playback singers and technicians would take part in the event.
