Nirosha honoured by K Anbazhagan for her short film

Yesteryear Agni natchathiram Nirosha has now  bounced back after having stayed away from the silver screen for a brief stint,but  this time as a producer and director of a short film. And she was honoured for one of her ventures by DMK Minister K Anbazhagan in Chennai recently.

Also honoured was ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi, who too marked his presence with a short film. In his address, the Minister responded to a plea from the Producers’ Guild to exempt short films from entertainment tax.

He said the State government has been helping the film industry in many ways and steps would be taken to waive the tax for short films. “Such ventures come with a valuable theme. They go a long way in sensitising the people,” he said at the function organised under the Siru Semippu scheme.

Chennai Mayor M Subramanian said Siru Semippu(Small Savings) departments of other States have approached the department seeking dubbing rights for all 38 short films. A Rahman Khan, Vice-Chairman, Siru Semippu schemes , M S Ramanujan, Postmaster General, Chennai City Region and C Uma Shankar, State Siru Semippu Department Commissioner also spoke.

The short films aimed at inculcating the habit of savings among the people will be screened at theatres all over Tamil Nadu soon. In Chennai, four films will be screened at the Elliots Beach at 7 pm every day till June 18.
