Teenager Nazriya Nazim is believed by the critics as one of the ‘rare finds’ who possess the deadly combination of killer-looks as well as acting prowess. Nazim, who has just had a solitary release in Tamil in the form of Neram (dubbed from Malayalam), appears to be on every youth’s mind as she breezed through her character in the film with ease and won the hearts of movie-goers in the State.
She has a proud line-up of films on her hands: her Raja Rani (which has Arya, Jai and Nayanthara as her co-stars) is to release shortly, making it her debut film in Tamil. She also has Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah opposite Jai, Naiyyandi opposite Dhanush and Nanbendaa opposite Udhayanidhi in various stages of production. Nazim herself is somehow rattled at all the adulation and attention she has been getting in the State.
Starting off as a television anchor, Nazim landed up the offer to play the heroine in Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah after which all others offers continued to flow. Critics feel that her homely looks and acting instincts have made her dear to the viewers and believe that she might well go on to become the next ‘big thing’ in Kollywood.
Nazim, who hails from Kerala, has this to say about her new-found star status in Kollywood: “Of course, I’m extremely happy about getting the offers to star opposite leading actors and to work with reputed film-makers; at the same time, I feel somewhat apprehensive about the attention and am under pressure to keep up the good name and recognition I have got through a single film.
“I’m very intent on meeting the expectations of the fans and the movie-goers in my upcoming releases. I shall continue to strive to give my best at all times,” concludes Nazim.
