Though he ‘died’ mid-way through the film, Tollywood’s Naani made a very good impression and gave a good account of his acting capabilities in the super-duper hit film Naan Eee (simultaneously released as Eega in Telugu). Directed by Tollywood’s S.S. Rajamouli, touted as the country’s biggest showman after the likes of Subhash Ghai and Shankar, the film has been declared a super-duper hit.
Naani’s character ‘dies’ in the film soon after the film commences, he ‘reincarnates’ as a ‘fly’ which torments the villain Sudeep to no end. For Samantha too, the film has given a big break. She would soon be spotted in the big-budget Nee Thanee En Ponvasantham directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon which has music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
Naani debuted as hero in Tamil films with Menon’s Veppam. The film didn’t create any huge waves at the box-office but Naan Eee has given hopes to Naani to make it big in Kollywood. He is now all set to star in his third Tamil film and has been paired up opposite Pranitha, whose last film in Tamil was the Karthi-starrer Saguni which didn’t do as well as expected when it released a few months back.
Though Naani is a Telugu and has as many as three Telugu films on hand, he is dreaming to make it big in Kollywood. His upcoming Tamil film would be a remake of the successful Bollywood film and would be directed by debutant director Gokul, who had earlier worked under director Vishnuvardhan in some of his films.
