Though she starred in many movies, she is best known for her ‘item’ songs. Actress Malavika has starred with senior actors like (late) Murali, Arjun and Karthik and also opposite the present generation of stars in Ajith, Jeevan. She also played small roles in superstar Rajinikanth’s Chandramukhi and Kamal Haasan’s Vasool Raja MBBS.
Malavika married and settled in matrimony more than a couple of years ago. Yet, she had left an indelible impression in the mind of movie-goers by the sway of her hips and her sexy dancing in the film Chittiram Pesudhadi for the song Valameenukkum Vilangu Meenukkum Kalyanam…. Thanks to the huge popularity the song earned her, in her subsequent movies, there was at least one ‘item song’ for the viewers to clock to the theatres to catch Malavika’s gyrations.
Mrs. Malavika, as she is married now, returns to the limelight neither as a heroine nor as an ‘item girl’ but in a full-throttled ‘homely image’ as the central character of an upcoming television serial on a popular regional language channel. The mother of two has bagged offers to star in a commercial advertisement as well as in the title role of a mega-serial.
Malavika would soon start shuttling between Mumbai (where she is settled) and Chennai with her two kids to star in the tele-serial and also to explore the avenue(s) of bagging ‘meaningful’ roles in Tamil and Telugu films. For the purpose, she has reportedly taken a house on hire in Chennai.
Welcome back, Malavika!
