Maatraan’s release date; theatrical rights sold


Surya’s Maatraan, produced under Kalpathi S. Aghoram’ AGS Entertainment banner has got it’s theatrical rights sold and the release dates fixed. Starring Kajal Aggarwal in female lead, the movie had it’s final shooting schedule held in Jodhpur in hot, sunny conditions. The theatrical rights for Maatraan have now been purchased by leading media house Eros International Media Ltd , who issued a press statement for the same.

 “There exists a huge potential for AGS Entertainment and Eros International to synergize, given our experience in Tamil film production and their global presence with content spread across most leading Indian languages”, confirmed Producer Kalpathi Agoram. As Maatraan gears up for the big release, Eros Managing Director Sunil Lulla said, “With Maatraan, Eros continues to explore and establish its presence in the regional film markets. The film promises to be one of its kind action thrillers and we are happy to associate with AGS Entertainment Private Limited to release this much awaited film with the hugely popular Surya”.

Maatraan will be a triple villain affair with Milind Soman, Daniel Balaji and Veera (of Nadunisi Naaygal)  pitted opposite Surya, for the forthcoming KV Anand release. Director KV Anand went all out rolling his cameras in Hyderabad, Wai (Maharashtra), Pakistan border, Jodhpur and Balkan areas comprising of Croatia, Russia, Macedonia, Serbia and Albania. With Eros International purchasing the rights for South (Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka), news is that Maatraan is slated for August 15th this year. Music for the film is by Harris Jayaraj. The film also has Motion capture technology used for the first time in Indian cinema. S. Sounder Rajan handles cinematography with Anthony performing editing duties. Hollywood ‘s Stan Winston Studios are polishing the special effects for Maatraan, having hero Surya play a do-gooder and another character with grey shades. That’s August 15th, Wednesday for Maatraan.
