One of Kollywood’s long-standing comedians is no more.Loose Mohan who started his filmy career at the young age of 16 acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Born in 1928 to actor Arumugam in Kanchipuram his first release came in Harischandra.Aged 84, he had done more than 1000 films and is credited with introducing the Madras lingo into Tamil movies.His use of colloquial Tamil made him a hit among fans including veteran Kamal Haasan who too praised him .Mohan was one comedian who shared the screen space with Kollywood veterans across generations, right from Sivaji Ganesan, M G Ramchandran, Rajnikanth and Kamal haasan. His most memorable release came in Rosapoo Ravikaikari and the flick Azhagi with Parthiban and Nandita Das in 2002 was his final call to movies. Ever since he has been battling respiratory problems and was treated for the same.Mohan breathed his last on Sunday, September 16th at his Mylapore residence.He is survived by son Karthik and three daughters Revathy, Geetha and Lakshmi. His wife left him early in 2004.The funeral and last rites will be conducted today evening.We pray that his soul rests in peace.
