Lakshmi Menon, heroine of actor-producer-director Sasikumar’s latest film Sundara Pandian , is in a happy frame of mind as the film has struck a chord or two with movie buffs and has been doing reasonably well in theatres. Directed by debutant director Prabhakaran, who assisted Sasikumar in his earlier films as an assistant director.
Sundara Pandian has turned out to bee Lakshmi’s debut film in Kollywood as heroine. Though she actually signed up Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki as debutant opposite Vikram Prabhu. Kumki was to launch both Prabhu and Lakshmi as the lead pair.
However, even before the shoot of Kumki was completed, Lakshmi was offered the female lead in Sundara Pandian, and the film to has now hit theatre’s well ahead of Kumki. T
Hailing from the neighbouring Kerala which has given to Kollywood many talented actresses such as Asin and Nayanthara, Lakshmi says “I have donned paavadai-dhaavani in both Sundara Pandian and Kumki but won’t like to get branded as an actress who is only capable of doing only certain kinds of roles. I’d sure love to show variation not only in the costumes but also in the scripts of my upcoming films.”
“Acting in the same manner in film after film not only bores the audiences but also gets one into the stereotypical mode. I don’t want to take after any other actress and love to create my own style. I had a very nice experience while shooting for Kumki; I’m sure the audiences would love the film a lot. In future I would love to star in films made by leading directors such as Bala and Gautham Menon”.
“I’m confident that Tamil audiences would patronize me in a big way and give me a place in their hearts,” Lakshmi concludes emphatically.
