Remember Mithra Kurian, who played Asin’s friend in Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’? Though she played a minor role in the film, Mithra gave a good account of herself and the fact that the film has turned out successful at the box-office has given the Kerala girl reasons to celebrate. Mithra had incidentally played the same role in the original Malayalam version ‘Bodyguard’.
Yet, doing the Tamil version was a challenge, of course. “I think I had become a matured actress when I played ‘Kaavalan’ than I was in ‘Bodyguard’. I’m sure those viewers who had seen both the versions would appreciate the truth in my statement,” says Mithra and lauds that the “Tamil audience’ support had been excellent.”
“People here have the tendency to appreciate and recognize talent and are very supportive indeed,” says Mithra.
Close on the success of the Siddique-directed ‘Kaavalan’, Mithra has been signed up to play one of the lead roles in director Suseendhiran’s upcoming, untitled film that would be starring Vikram and Deeksha Seth in the lead.
The film’s shooting is likely to start after the Assembly elections in the State are over. Mithra, though, can’t wait till that time and says that it’s an exciting character and she would like to get started as soon as possible. For this talented actress, speaking and understanding Tamil is not a big issue even as she hopes to be counted among the best actresses in Tamil cinema.
