In order to ensure that their hard-work is not allowed to go down the drain and to save their films from the menace of video piracy, producers and directors have, of late, started showing more interest in ‘insuring’ their films to ensure the films’ overall safety in terms of preserving its uniqueness and to prevent against other tangible losses.
Producers and directors invariably ensure that their films are insured only if it stars big stars such as superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. The trend has changed in recent times with film-makers showing renewed interest in insuring their films, irrespective of the cast of the film.
The insurance policy also helps the producers in minimizing the damage or helps them in compensating for whatever damage that might occur at shooting spots due to unexpected accidents. Earlier, compensation was awarded to film-makers who suffered losses during the shoot of Rajini’s Sivaji: The Boss and Enthiran: The Robot.
Likewise, ace director Maniratnam also got compensated when a huge and expensive set erected during the shoot of his failed venture Raavanan was washed away due to unexpected floods and torrential rains. Mani reportedly got Rs.30 lakh to as a compensation package from the insurers.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam, Maniratnam’s Kadal and Bala’s Paradesi are some of the upcoming important films which have been insured aptly.
